An eye check-up is now necessary within a certain interval to understand the problems of your eyes. The specialist will check your retina and reading ability to understand whether your vision is perfect or not. The ability of vision changes with time and you should check your eyes on a certain interval. After the age of 55, people start to have weaker sight, and a regular eye test is required to detect complicated issues. Through eye tests, you can find several problems like,

  1. Hypertension: If your doctor suggests an eye check-up and the eye vessels are detected as torn, kinked, or bent then you may have hypertension which is affecting the vessels of your eyes. The close-eye test can indicate the high-pressure problem of the patient.

  2. Diabetes: If you have a diabetic problem then your eye vessels may leak the yellowish fluid or even blood. This can only be detected through an eye test. So, if your doctor suggests the specific eye test and, in the result, it shows something like mentioned then you tend to have diabetic retinopathy. So, you need to check your blood sugar level on a regular basis and you must maintain the medication prescribed by your doctor.

  3. Thyroid: Due to the thyroid, you may have bulging eyes or protruding eyeballs. This condition is also detectable through an eye test. This condition is known as Graves Disease.

  4. Autoimmune disorder: An inflamed eye is a sign of an autoimmune disorder. If the doctor notices this problem in your eyes after going through an eye test, then you may have Lupus or any other type of autoimmune disorder.

  5. High cholesterol: High cholesterol levels can also change the appearance of the eyes and create a ring-yellow color around the cornea. If you are detected with the same, then you may have a higher level of cholesterol than normal.

  6. Cancer: The pigmentations in the eyes can be suspected of skin cancer. If your eyes are taking an unusual shape then, your doctor suggests an eye test to check whether everything is alright or not. Otherwise, Ocular melanoma may develop in the eyes and it can also spread in the brain.
