Know the Details of Heating and Cooling Systems

Updated: Apr 13

In a country like Australia where there are harsh weather conditions, there is a great need of heating and cooling systems so that you can get a comfortable temperature at your homes. If you are thinking about increasing the comfort level in your home then you must consider installing heating and cooling options. You can opt for air conditioning to serve this purpose. Air conditioning is the method of air processing in the room, aimed at maintaining the desired climate conditions, i.e. the appropriate temperature and air humidity range, providing convenient conditions for work and human functioning (comfort conditions) or optimal conditions for a specific industrial process (e.g. in the electronics industry). You can easily deal with weather changes if you install heating and cooling systems at your home.

History of Air Conditioning:

Initially, from the 19th century to the 1920s, carbon dioxide was used as a cooling agent. It was supplanted by factors from the group of fluorinated hydrocarbons that could be used at a lower working pressure in the cooling system. After the withdrawal of fluorocarbons, R12 was used which had good thermodynamic properties and was free to escape from the cooling system. As it was harmful to the ozone layer, it was discontinued in accordance with the Montreal Protocol signed in 1987. In the following years, R134a, with good thermodynamic properties was used, but it is a very high greenhouse gas with respect to the GWP index (1300). Therefore, in the United States and Japan, manufacturers have been obliged to more efficient heating and cooling systems, which will reduce the factor's consumption.

Advantages of Installing Heating and Cooling Systems:

  1. Comfort conditions: Thermal comfort is a set of microclimate features that makes people feel good. The thermal sensations of man mainly relate to the thermal balance of the whole body. This balance is influenced by: human activity, the clothing it is wearing, as well as the environmental parameters: air temperature, average radiation temperature, air flow speed and relative humidity. The experience of air conditioning engineers shows that optimal conditions for people performing light work (e.g. office work) occur while simultaneously meeting the following internal air parameters:

 Temperature: summer 23 - 26 ° C; winter 20 - 24 ° C  Relative humidity: 40 - 60% (max 35 - 65%) -Air velocity in the zone of human presence: 0.2 - 0.5 m / s.

Not keeping any of these parameters can cause people to feel shortness of breath, parity or drafts. Effective heating and cooling systems can provide the ideal conditions.

  1. Technological microclimate: The technological processes at workplaces and even at home may also require an appropriate microclimate. However, in addition to determining the optimal parameters of the indoor air, maintaining the assumed tolerances of temperature and relative humidity or air velocity is an important element. Often also the technological processes require maintaining proper air purity (mechanical, chemical, microbiological). Air conditioning can help in this department.

  2. External conditions: The air conditioning installation needs to be prepared to provide the user's internal conditions in all meteorological conditions. On the basis of tests, tables with computational external parameters such as temperature, air humidity, windiness and insolation were prepared. Efficient heating and cooling systems can cope with influences of extreme weather conditions and can provide comfortable temperatures indoors even if the external temperatures are too hot or too cold.

It can be concluded that you can improve your comfort considerably if you install an air conditioning system at your home. You can enjoy the temperature best suited to you even if the weather is too hot or too cold.
